Well, when I first bought my MP3 player and plugged it into the USB port, my comp detected it as an F: drive and I just dragged and dropped music too and from it. Only now, when I plug it in again it doesn't do that anymore. The little icon for unplugging/ejecting hardware still appears at the bottom of the screen, but the F: drive doesn't come up anymore.

Can anyone help me out?

When you say "F drive doesn't come up anymore", do you mean it doesn't pop up automatically, or it doesn't show in My Computer at all?

The F drive doesn't show in My Computer at all.
It works fine when I plug it in at school to upload stuff on to it... I don't know what's wrong!

Have you tried other USB ports on the computer? Have you tried re-installing your USB ports?

Right click on My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Universal Serial Bus controllers.

You might see several things listed under that, depending on how many USB ports you have. It is safe to delete them, and Windows will reinstall them when you reboot.

If you are using an older version of Windows, like Windows 98/2000, you might be asked for your Windows CD when you reboot to reinstall the USB ports.

Was there any software that you installed into your computer when you got your MP3 player?

You said that the Add/Remove Hardware icon appears when you plug it in, does the MP3 itself appear in the list of connected hardware? Does the MP3 player come up listed under "Disk Drives" (or similar) in the Device Manager?

Nope, no software... it worked the first couple of times anyway... so I don't know what went wrong.

Umm, the icon to unplug hardware (is that the same thing?)... Its listed as USB Disk.

hmm this one is getting to be a toughie.

Can you try simply refreshing in My Computer and see if it comes up?

Go back into Device Manager, is the MP3 (USB Disk) player listed under "Disk Drives"?

Refreshing doesn't work... And it's not listed under Disk Drives.

what operating system are you using?

there is no need to disable your USB drives, if your camera works fine.

What is ur actual MP3 player? Brand and model number.
If there are drivers, uninstall and re-install them. (Make sure your device is not connected while re-installing)

when plugging into your MP3 player, is ur MP3 player turned on or off?

The USB add/remove icon at the bottom right hand corner,
what is the device listed as?

If Win2k.
Right click My Computer
Go to Manage
Disk Management
what is the device listed as?

jsut throwing in random Q's

I'm running Windows ME. The actual MP3 player is Muro MR-100 (fairly obscure Korean brand who weren't very helpful when I emailed them). There aren't any drivers so that's not a problem.
In the USB add/remove icon it's listed as USB Disk and MURO: as a component of that.
