What is another application of the Usul al Fiqh in the 21st century other then the use of coffee? Thankyou,

any new technology would require the use of usul al fiqh to solve any problems raised by said technology.

pick any technology, really, and look at social problems (for lack of a better word) that the technology raises.
eg internet - pornography
industries - application of machine slaughtering to animals and it's implications for ritual slaughtering (ie halal food)
food products - preservatives, use of alcohol to clean industrial food production machines, use of alcohol to clean impurities within certain foods (eg apple juices)
space travel - if you go to the moon, which direction would you face to do daily prayer?
