In the acceptance and enrollment booklet that they sent out a couple of days ago, it says that I need a Tax File Number (or certificate from the Taxation Office that confirms that I have applied for one). I have neither, and enrollment for my course is at 9AM tomorrow.
Does anyone have any idea what I should do or be doing?

I feel your pain, I have the same problem I called up Usyd so many times and called up the Tax office too.

I wrote them an e-mail

their reply
Hi,

If you do not receive that certificate for application for a TFN, you
should still come in on enrolment day. Just explain your situation to the
people at enrollment. However, I would assume that if you already have
applied for a TFN then that certificate of application may still come prior
to your enrolment on Wednesday. If you'd like to double check this (as the
fees office is currently closed for the weekend and I cannot double check
with them), you can call them on 9351 5222, when they reopen on Monday.

I think what I am going to do is tell them my situation and then call them up later and then give them the TFN before the 31st of March or something.

Maybe you could do that too?

Yeah, i'm really stressing out about this though.

All I can really do now is explain my situation when I get there, and see if after the BA session at 11am I can go down to the Taxation office, hand in an application and get the certificate, then come back to USYD and get it all sorted out then. All this administration crap is way too complicated for my small mind.

Please stop stressing out, I'm sure the ppl at Uni/Syd will be very accepting of your situation, as long as you can change subjects by 31st March (and hence get refunds/amount owing on Student Contribution fees), I'm pretty sure they'll let you hand in your TFN til then.

Really, try not to worry about it Satori.

Just show up on enrollment day and explain to them that you've applied for a TFN but don't have it or the certificate yet and they'll handle it from there :)

Enrollment isn't meant to be stressful, so I wouldn't worry. Really. :D
