Hello! This is probably in the wrong section so please excuse me for that.
It's unlikely for me to get an ATAR above 90 so I've applied for UNSW's FEAS. However, I'm having doubts mainly because of the travel time and the high drop out rate from software engineering. But the catch is, if I put USYD is #1 preference my chance of getting in is literally dependent on my ATAR whereas if I put UNSW I at least have FEAS to back me up.
UNSW
Pros:
- My favourite uni (loved it the first time I visited it 6 years ago, still love it)
- Faculty of Engineering Admission Scheme (FEAS)
- Very good reputation in engineering
Cons:
- High drop out rate + more rigorous engineering courses compared to other univerisities (from what I've heard)
- 3+ hours travel to and from
- Crazy timetables with unreasonable start and finish times
USYD
Pros:
- 2hrs travel to and from (direct train route from my area)
- Slightly lower ATAR requirement
Cons:
- I never really liked this uni, the atmosphere makes me feel sentimental (I'm being serious) - maybe I visited at the wrong time when there weren't many students around..
Some of you may see my pros and cons as immature or unreasonable, but please do note that I'm a very lost y12 kid who has to finalize their UAC preferences and alternative entry interviews/questionnaires soon. Also, lets just say my health hasn'5 been good at all for the past few years because I used to have chronic stress which backfired pretty badly.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
