Hi

I'm wondering if anyone knows how good the law school @ UWS is compared to UNSW and Usyd. Also, what is the ranking of the UWS law school? Is there a ranking?

Thanks.

We have a new law school. I was able to look into the unit "advocacy" which is 5th year unit. The unit is pretty sophisticated and is taught by barristers and experienced practitioners along with the aide of a Judge.

Our Law school is very up-to-date with facilities. Teaching is done via Seminars which many other law schools still haven't adopted. Seminars means the lecturer engages with students more, so students learn themselves, but can also relate to other members in the group as well - its about expanding networks.

THe only ranking I am aware of is the mooting comps. UWS is a very good law school here. It has continually achieved quite a good result, I think we came 4th internationally or something.

Obviously our law school isn't as old as USyd or UNSW, however employers are interested in your marks and grades, not which university you come from.

i would suggest that you give the student centre a call or have a browse around the uws website and have a look at the info on it because i mean....as jonathan said its fairly new, so you cant really go by rankings as a way of measuring how "good" it is....

something to look at too is the uni's pro bono programs and that kinda stuff too - is good experience:) and will come in handy when you're out job hunting afterwards coz you'll have some good practical experience under your belt and probably develop a number of links/networks with other students of legal practioners in the process:)

but yeah - have a look on eth website or call the uni as the best way to judge what its like would be to talk to one of the teachers or a student etc who's been thru/is going thru the law school :)
