I recently received an email from the admissions officer at UWS. However i'm not sure by how I am going to get a calculated UAI from UAC. Doesn't the uni calculate your NRSL?
Here is the email
Dear XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
You cannot automatically transfer into our course.
The undergraduate prospectus are not yet ready but for on ring 1800 897 669 or study@uws.edu.au
If you have started a course and don't finish it you will need to contact UAC to have them calculate you an adjusted UAI.
Below is information on Medicine:
The School of Medicine will be on the Campbelltown Campus.
The course is 5 years. There will be 80 commonwealth funded places for Australian and NZ citizens and 8 full-fee paying places. We will be taking some graduates. You apply through the UAC book. There will also be a form for the School to fill in, the link to it will be in the UAC book but also on our website when it is updated.
There is no 'fast track' for medicine, undergraduates and postgraduates do the same 5 year course as it is vertically and horizontally inter-related and you have to do (a) before moving on to (b) and so on.
· The University has a commitment to the Greater Western Sydney community in which it is located. In fact the University’s Act says that it will ‘…meet the needs of the community, beginning in Greater Western Sydney’. To that end, a proportion of the places available in this course will be allocated to applicants from the Greater Western Sydney area. Applicants who have lived in one of the 14 local government areas defined as Greater Western Sydney for at least the five years immediately before they would commence in the course are eligible to have this taken into consideration during the admissions process. Applicants who want this considered will be required to provide relevant residency details at the time they apply to the School of Medicine for selection, and this must be documented with a Statutory Declaration
· Local Government Areas are: Auburn, Bankstown, Baulkham Hills, Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Camden, Campbelltown, Fairfield, Hawkesbury, Holroyd, Liverpool, Parramatta, Penrith, Wollondilly.
Prerequisites - Although there are no formal prerequisites, the NSW Universities Admission Centre Guide will state that HSC Chemistry is a ‘Recommended course’.
∙ Non-current school leaver: applicants who completed year 12 some time ago, or applicants who have undertaken some tertiary studies but have not yet completed a degree. In order to be considered, such candidates will need to approach the Universities Admission Centre (UAC) to have UAC calculate an Adjusted UAI for them.
School Leaver (Non-Graduate):
- UAI ≥ 92 (within the last 5 years)
- UMAT results
- structured interview
Postgraduates:
- GPA (credit) ≥ 5.5
- UMAT results (postgrads need to sit UMAT)
- structured interview
UMAT is on the 26 July and you must contact ACER to book into the test by April. http://www.acer.edu.au
I hope this helps you
Oh, and also, I find that Greater Western Sydney scheme a load of bullshit. Auburn is 25 mins to the city!
