I've downloaded a video about the Manhattan Project from a French school I think.

Except the video has english and french both dubbed into one video.

It's a Divx with Mpeg 3 as audio.

Is there anyway I can have just english.

Try Media Player Classic. Play the video, right click -> audio , see if you can select which language you want.

classic media player does the trick...

i'm surprised the new media player 10 doesn't have a feature like that.

You can, its under Audio as well on the menu/right click. Same with subtitles.
