There has been a lot of hype on about Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) on the news, and how its a complete selloff and saving compared to normal telephony. Is it worth making this change for the call costs. I heard that there the quality of a call is worse than fixed phone. And also it uses broadband, does that mean it would slow the internet connection?

It's worth it if you regularly talk to people overseas. For local calls however, I wouldnt do it.

nah, phone cards are cheaper for talking overseas. voip is ok if you make alot of mobile calls or alot of national calls.

so far i don't think the cheapness is worth the inconvenience and the initial hardware outlay and the minimum spend.

you need to make alot of calls for it to be worth it.

EDIT: yes it will slow down you internet connection when you are making calls. Also you wont be about to make calls if you are downloading large files or on P2P.

however, if you have a 1.5M connection is should be no big problem.
