i was looking at the chemistry syllabus for year 12 eventhough i am in year 11.
i find out there is core topics which are Production of materials, The acidic environment and
Chemical monitoring & management and there is option topic Shipwrecks, Corrosion and Conservation, The Biochemistry of Movement, Industrial chemistry, The chemistry of art, Forensic chemistry.
so im just confuse.. is core topics are the main topic we learn and is the option ones that we have to choose one from it? then for the option topic do we choose what we want to do? or the school?

the school chooses it for you
In most cases yes, but not specifically. In some school's (depending on the size of classes and teacher's attitude) students are allowed to choose which option topic they want to do, in even more specific cases, some talented students might have the opportunity to study an option topic as independent learning. But yes you are correct with core topics being the topics you have to do, followed by the option topic which you choose (one only).

For more information try and speak to teachers at your school, they will be able to offer more relevant advice and information.
