hey dudes, i was just looking through some stuff on water conservation and i came upon this:
"One of the adaptations that may help a plant to reduce water loss is extra thickening of the cell walss throughout their branches; even though they may lose large amounts of water they do not wilt."
Could someone please explain to me how this helps conserve water? i really don't get it. :(

uhm it seems rather a contradiction saying how "even if tehy lose large amount of water, they do not wilt" while the adaptation seeks to "reduce water loss"... any way, my intepretation is that water have to diffuse out of the cell... if it has a thicker cell wall, then the water will takes longer and harder to be evaporated from the cell itself, hence reducing water loss...
