i want to analyse a web page but what are the main techniques and effects that i should look out for?...thanks

Look for colour in anything to help make something stand out, like a link or a phrase or paragraph. Look at how the webpage is stucture, normal language techniques if there is text, check out any images or pictures on the webpage.

i might like to add some stuff as well:

--> important to analyse how the texts and images work together as well - makes the purpose of the text more evident and has more impact.
--> it is convenient to have hyperlinks and menu bars, therefore it is kinda user-friendly, therefore it is successful at fulfilling its purpose.
--> consider text FONT as well --> adds to the atmosphere
--> SOUND might be incorporated as well
--> ANIMATION might come up as well, particularly websites that have been made with marcomedia flash --> might add to the professionalism or APPEAL of the website to ENTICE the victim audience to enter the website.
