enjoy the freedom you have
you'll have enough time to pick something next year

PS-dont do a movie, they're too long and the
teacher will realise that you can only evaluate it at face value

I chose The Alchemist as my related text,
read it over the holidays, see if you like it.

(it'll work for physical, inner and imaginative
journeys... so no matter what your school
choses you'll be fine)

I read it before i thought of it
as a related text, so jot down a few techniques
as soon as you read them... it'll make writing your
essays much easier

Im a hypocrit since its not actually a short book
but, reading an entire book shows you've
put more effort in than someone who just sat down
and watched a movie, so that might help...

Pontiac Moon: A man and his son aim to drive a Pontiac around America equalling the same distance for the first moon landing in order to arrive at their destination point at the same time. Their agoraphobic mother goes out in search of them and there's a whole bunch of mental awakenings and what-not as a result of the journey.

The Motorcycle Diaries - you could do his autobiographical journal entries in book form as well...

You shouldn't use anymore than ONE film in your essay. Most essay questions ask for a variety of texts which means you should do the prescribed text, and then different texts to it (so if your prescribed text is a film, do something else).

But as a rule, you should know off by heart 4 or 5 different sorts:
A movie,
A poem,
An image,
Lyrics

etc.

Oh and never use the word MOVIE when you're writing an essay, use FILM (I had my essays with red circles where I used the word movie, teachers hate it).

LOL, and I am quite sure that would go down well with a catholic school teacher who is an HSC marker :D.

We were allowed to do that shit at school and get full marks, but my teacher warned us not to in the real HSC because even though markers aren't meant to be bias, some of the catholic school teachers are. She also told us not to use explitives.

XD Do something that's out of the ordinary, its advised to 2006 students not to texts suggested by teachers, or already in Study Guides, because countless people have already used it.

So, practically if you see your related text mentioned around alot in BOS, then you know its not going to help you score high in HSC. I went to almost 4 libraries to borrow a geographical magazine, which talked about the adventure of 7 aussie climbers to Antarctica, and the other one is Seven Years into Tibet...I hope it'll score good in my HSC. XD
