I want to become be a sales person during my time at uni as a part time job.

the guys that just walk around and then when a customer has questions they come and say "can I help you"

What do I have to do?
pass a test for the company???
get some degree???
work experience???

Nothing, I work for Woolies and people at dicksmiith who do that have no special qualification. Just apply for a job

You have to be gay, you need good dress sense, you gotta hate people in general and argue about things that dont matter at all.

I was a salesperson at Dick Smith, those people who have knowledge in technology and people skills will typically have a secured job and earn more commissions. I was ranked #1 in sales for quite a few period (out of the entire company), take my advice - with no passion for or 'genuine' interest in the technology and understanding customers requirements and how to sell products to them then you won't get as much shifts nor will you enjoy the job. I worked at Dick Smith for a while back in the latter part of high school, it was my first job.

I just went to the store and dropped off my resume. Also, at the time I had no experience from any other jobs.

I got in before the Christmas period and stayed for around two years until I gotta better job once I started uni. Overall, it was a good place to work and I got along pretty well with all the people I worked with which made it fun.
