My school's 2013 ranking is 5

And below are my 'estimated' rankings, seeing as I haven't actually gotten ranking, but this is where I feel like I stand.

English Advanced: 50/159
English Extension 1: 30/136
English Extension 2: 4/23
Ancient History: 5/11
Modern History: 20/41 (I got 10/41 on my semester 1 report, and the last assessment before trials I scored 24/25marks but I feel like I seriously flunked my trials which is weighted at 30%, so if I rounded it down to that I think I probably scored 23/30marks... )
History Extension: 5/20
Japanese Continuers: 8/16 (super strong cohort! mostly everyone does extension)

I'm hoping to get an atar of atleast 96... Is this still possible?

Also, question: If you've bombed out in trials, but you ace the HSC, how would that affect your atar, could your marks be 'redeemed'? I've heard that how well you do in trials will determine how well you do in the HSC, and your HSC mark is not your own. So essentially your ATAR is mostly dependent on your trials/school assessments and the actual HSC isn't really that important in comparison. Does this mean I've basically doomed myself from like, say a 98, even if I do extremely well in the HSC?

96 is definitely still not possible, 97-98 might be possible though.
