How are the politics units at macq?

if i make it in my international business course at macq, im thinkin of majoring in politics and marketing

studying politics, is it boring? how are these units, boring, fun, interesting?

POL167 POL300 POL380
POL266 POL321 POL386
POL270 POL341
POL282 POL342

studying politics, is it challenging?

I gotta choose 2 elective modules what would complement politics?

Anthropology (any help on this module would be great)
Demography
Economics
Human Geography
Sociology
Marketing (Thinking about this module + politics)

... thanks.. any help would be appreciated

what do you guys thinki should major in my international business degree...?

POL167 (thinking politically) is actually quite interesting. It has some similarities to philosophy, except in this unit, it raises questions about the state, government, politics, law and the enforcement of a legal code by authority: what makes a government legitimate, what rights and freedoms it should protect and why, what form it should take and why, etc… I quite enjoyed this unit and I think you might too.

I've done human geography- goddamn that subject was dry and boring... u study two places in nsw and u look at their landscapes n u find out how they've changed over time, in my year we looked at leichardt and cessnock... she wanted us to go visit these places in our OWN time and take pictures and really take the atmosphere in... i of course didn't. There are other topics that cover migration n stuff at global and national levels, basically they teach u stuff u already know. Its better than demography though (dem127 is just all maths) whereas geos is about patterns n crap.

Anyway GEOS111 is so hard to do well in, i didn't goto lectures coz they're such a waste of time but i did goto tutes, ur expected to do readings before every tute... i only got a pass, and the finals are u just write essays... for the whole exam... very unexciting. You can pass this subject by just doing 1 out of 3 readings a week and reading the lecture slides a few days before exams.

Marketing- very easy to do well in this subject, its just like hsc business studies

Anthropology- my friends have done it, drugs across cultures i heard was good

sociology- SOC180 right? if ur interested do this! my friend got a HD for this subject

Economics- crazy crazy lol it really helps u though, if ur not interested in economics choose bba103... business economics... u'll need to know economics for ur degree and i think everyone who has some type of understanding of economics is extremely valuable

As for politics... i shall not say ew or n e thing offensive... ask "the nick" (ask him seriously) and marchetta about politics, they seem to like it

this is the link that shows the recommended program of study

...

The actual name of the degree is ' Bachelor of International Business'

Macquarie has a wide range of business degrees, its so hard to decide what to do...

Im now thinking about Business Admin/ psych .... and commerce (marketing and organisational behaviour)

ahhh 2days left to change preferences..!!

hrrm i wouldn't worry about the changing preferences thing, u can always transfer mid semester n after a year n stuff.

International Business is one of the hardest degrees to transfer into internally... i think u need a GPA OF 3.75, my friend is trying to get into it.

Looking at the program of study though it doesnt look like my thing... ide rather the psychology and human resource units that are in my business admin/arts-psyche degree... and you seem to be the same, however was B international business like 96 or something to get into? or am i thinking of B business administration (international business) or another degree blreghh macq has too many biz degrees to keep track of.

See with business admin/arts-psyche... u can do org behaviour, psyche units, human resource units, marketing units... all the stuff u seem to be interested in. Check out its program of study

International business seems awsome though... on paper (but the program sucks ... to me anyway)
