well in the first page of the syllabus for the production of materials it states that you must be able to write full chemical equations you come across, from year 11 to year 12 i think i forgot a few of the general equation which i wish to know what other general equations are there to learn apart from what i know, also to help those who had similar problem to me

Acid + Base ---> Salt + Water (neutralisation reaction)

Hydrocarbon + Oxygen ---> Carbon Dioxide + Water (combustion reaction)

Metal + Oxygen ---> Metal Oxide

Metal + Water ---> Metal Hydroxide + Hydrogen

Metal + Water ---> Metal Oxide + Hydrogren

can anyone tell me the exception for the above equations of metal + water

Metal + Acids ---> Salt + Hydrogen

just to get it started, hope it helps

doesn't the metals equation change depending on the reactivity of the metal?

metal + steam -> metal oxide + Hydrogen
This is for the elements in the activity series below Potassium, sodium, etc... Elements such as Magnesium.

You should know the acid ones, things like:
Acid + Carbonate --> Salt + Water + Carbon Dioxide.

Hmm Im not sure if you need to know it but it would also be useful:

Metal Oxide + Hydrogen --(High Temperatures)--> Metal + Steam
