i just wanna know from ppl who do/did it whether they enjoyed it in macq cuz i actually heard macq isn't great in this area.

It depends on what you want to get into, journalism isnt one of its strong points, and while it doesnt have the practical experience, i think it has a good balance between theory and practical components and equipment, particularly if you're into multimedia or film.

To be honest, i see a fundamental shift away from traditional journalism, and more into the multimedia landscape generally, and thats why i don't think we offer a B Journalism, which i was talking about (as compared to B Journalism at UTS). It still isn't one of our strong points as a uni, I'd say radio and film are our strengths.

well i've been told the contrary...uts is supposed to be specialised more on tv/radio and macq in writing.

No, whoever told you that is misinformed.

Whilst I'm not a fan of being abosolute; I'd go to UTS if I wanted to write formally (journalism, essays, diplomacy, etc), and MU if I wanted to do anything creative.

Look at the units; whilst MU has a lot of creative writing units (English), it doesn't have many journalism units, if any. The closest things are the media units, which seem far more general.

We have got our own awesome radio station, units on radio/television/film, and good facilities.

Plus MQ has links with AFTRS...heck we pretty much share the same campus.

An old friend of mine who did a BA in media and cul got into radio quite easily - fbi initially but then sold out to 2day fm. haha.

Oh, we share 2SER with UTS...but yeah, it seems we definately offer more course wise.

Wow whoever told you that is very misinformed.

A) Macquarie contains the AFTRS, and is essentially linked to it in many ways.
B) 2SER, the radio production units available to basically anyone who has done the MAS104/105 units.
C) While the B Media-Creative Writing is inarguably the most popular of the Media majors, it is beginning to be aware of the multimedia sector, and the fundamental shift towards convergence and pluralism, a key factor taught within the first year Media units (which are taken by all Media students regardless of major).
D) We basically had the first Media school in any uni, and the courses have been running for at least 10 and even 20 years and has moved with the times. (The keynote MAS actually stands for Mass Communication, which was changed at least twice (can't remember the one prior to present) and now to Media Studies).
