there isn't much of a difference the more i think about it. i'm scared to be wrong, but generally the same concepts still apply:

- change of context

- thus implies different different morals, values, discourses, eg in a pardoner's tale, religion is the most effective way to engage the audience. in a simple plan, it uses baser fears such as being alone, consequences, reputation that engages the audience. you'd find stuff like mysogyny/partiarchy vs feminism, just changes in the construct of society, same story, different values.

its pretty much the same thing. just appropriation is usually used in postmodern thought, suggesting that all stories are linked etc. perhaps appropriation wouldn't hesitate to tie in the original story, eg the way moulin rouge would tie in other texts (this is called intertextuality) such as not hesitating to use song lyrics, images from other movies such as titanic while theyre on the elephant to suggest meaning.

but all in all, not much of a difference.
