I tend to work on the principle that the more junk I take in, the more chance I have of being able to use that junk to help answer the question.

So I'm taking in: a magnifying glass (to see the contour lines with)
dental floss (in lieu of string)
a ruler
a calculator
pens
lead pencils
coloured pencils (just in case)
my reading glasses

a jumper with MADMAN written across the front... may as well. ;)

The BOS says we're allowed:

Geography
* a Board-approved calculator
* a pair of dividers
* a pair of compasses
* a protractor
* coloured pencils and/or coloured felt pens
* (optional) a hand-held magnifying glass
* (optional) a piece of string or thread for measuring

Each student will be provided with two desks, set at right angles for additional working space.
So make sure you get your two desks.

I took in a 10x10 1cm grid printed on overhead folio. Our teacher said we were allowed to (even though it doesn't say it)
First they wouldn't allow me to take in (cause it wasn't listed) but then they checked with BOS I think and I (we) were allowed to use it.

It's pretty useful for working out areas.

Other than that I brought in everything listed except the magnifying glass.
