For example a book could be a novel, a non-fiction book, a memoir etc.
Could you call it a documentary?
Repeatedly referring to it as a "video" or a "clip" just isn't sounding very sophisticated

If the main purpose is to inform/educate, then it is a documentary.
If the main purpose is entertain, then it is a film.

I'd go with documentary, as it sounds like the individuals are trying to provide an insight, although you would need to provide more information about the text for a definite answer.
