e-mail me the article if you want and I can help (
jstangh@bigpond.net.au). I guess the techniques are things like the title, any imagery accompanying the article, where it appears in the paper itself, the layout (often something contentious or supporting a different point of view will be last because people often don't read that far into the article), the choice of 'expert' support in the form of direct quotes, emotive language (use of adjectives, exclaimation points, pursuasive statements of assumed knowledge or viewpoint of the reader), unsubstantiated claims (things that aren't supported but are stated emphatically), juxtaposition of ideas (does the placement of ideas lend credibility to an idea or belittle it?) - can't say much more without reading it - good luck!
