I was just out driving and to my suprise, i saw a formula ford car on the road, the guy was driving it like it was a normal car! are they legal to drive on public roads?

I didn't think so.

If it was legal it needs blinkers, brake lights, reverse, non-exposed wheels, wing mirrors, not slicks....

On the other hand it could have been driven under club rego which is somewhat more lenient - or maybe with just a cover note...

Yeah, its possible to see those type of cars. It was probably moving during a Club race meet or something. Probably an Amature racer.

oh sorry then, but it still is suprising that id see one on the road but like you said what loquasagacious said is probabaly the best explanation.
