The ARTS210 course is listed as a prescribed unit for my degree (BCA[IS]) in the handbook. However, e-student does not recognise the BCA(IS) degree as a legitimate preqrequisite (the regular BCA is fine)... what the hell?!?!?!

I emailled the people and they told me "Unfortunately, BCA and BCA(IS) are not recognised as the same degree. Hence if you wish to complete ARTS210, you will be required to complete a waiver."

I'm aware they're not the same degree but they're bloody similar. Why the hell do I need to get a waiver for one of my PRESCRIBED UNITS?!?!?!?!

*frustrated*

Similar thing happened to me with psych.. well, sortof, it was for the same degree (;) ), but they had changed the prereq's without letting anyone know that they needed to apply for a waiver.

Get the departments fax number and fax them. Its usually processed within 3 days (well, mine were - I had three!) :D

It's just annoying because the ARTS210 is DEFINATELY a prerequisite and has been for years now, and will continue to be for years. It's one of our ultra-core-core units (if you get what I mean).

Issue might be because there's only about 8-10 of us doing the IS version of BCA, but still!

Haha yeah, i think for a Creative Arts degree, and considering the small amount of ARTS units, that it'd be a core rofl

"We appologise for the confusion.

After much investigation into the matter, we have located the bug in the system and have fixed the issue.

If you go online and try enrolling in ARTS210 now, it should work just fine.

So there is no need for you to get a waiver."

... thank god.

How can I apply for a waiver?

To apply for a waiver, you will need to complete an Application for Special Approval (Waiver). This can be collected from the Student Enquiry Service at Lincoln Building Level 1. A Waiver Form is also available online.

When this has been completed, submit the waiver to the appropriate Department for signed approval.
