A query is a search of a database for records that meet a certain condition, which is exactly why they are useful :p

Particularly if the database has heaps of items, it's easier to conduct a search (query) to find the specific thing you're looking for.

Hope that helps!

A database without any functionality would be useless.

Luckily, we have queries which enable us to extract data and transform it into information (give the data meaning e.g. reports, forms, etc).
