i'm currenting in yr 11 ... but we have started the HSC course already ....\

i want to get some studies guides for ECO..HSC

which one is helpful ... Excel or Macquarie

can u gay also recommend any useful to me ...........thx

i took eco, our textbook is the leading edge one - it was pretty good in terms of content and explaining the more complex stuff.

you mite have to try their website, leadingedge.com.au our teacher bought them for us so im not sure where you would get them from

it was a really useful textbook, but i didnt buy any of the excels or mac quides so i cant help you there. but i do reccomend the leading edge one

not really sure if you need a study guide but i'd probably take mq over excel for the overall course guide

one big tip: leading edge model exam responses booklets (4 in the series. one for each topic)

i totally agree.

i use two text books - riley + leading edge (Dixon's). i also have the model answer books. your teacher or library should have subsciptions to all the quarterly updates.

when looked at all together you will have more than enough information.

Seriously though. How many people buy the Excel or Maq guides and actually use them? i flicked through them only to be greeted with less than my textbook had to offer.

you have more than enough in ONE textbook, the only reasons you'd go to others would be:
i) different wording to aid the basic understanding
ii) more in-depth explaination for those bright sparks out there

and that's it.

if you need either of those, consider it... otherwise don't bother.

I use the excel study guide (That covers the basics) and then Bulmer's over the top, psycho books (3 of them) to get that edge by knowing just a bit more than the basic stuff...

Yeh i gotta agree with you there. Bulmer is pretty comprehensive!

Nope there is no economics maquarie guides.

excel guide =shit i studied of that in prelim so shit don't even go near it ,it lacks the detail.For eco you need to be detailed and those revision guides are tos summarised to the job

recommend getting riley and dixon together with the extra 4 booklets on each topic

Macquarie only offers a HSC Economics study guide (no Preliminary version as far as I know).

Buy the Macquaire one if you choosing between execl and macquarie...........
The reason i say this cozmy ecos teacher wrote it, its really good and easy to understand. Covers the syllabus to the 'T'

I'v been using bulmer and dixon mainly. Riley is so tedious to read IMO.

Lmao Tim Riley's book is absolutely useless, the jargon he uses doesn't even help explain economic concepts...

I use Leading Edge (red for 2005) + Bulmar's 2006 Eco book (orange).

If you're into Leading Edge ones, be sure to get the more updated one, so in your case 2006, nothing should be different except for the statistics used, and case studies.

But Bulmar's one is extremely useful! Though read leading edge first to get an overview.
