ok guys so I have like a few options of what degrees i wanna do.

originally I wanted to do a bachelor of commerce and design at unsw. But honestly idk if it's the right course I wanna do and I just have this gut feeling that I should choose smth else

some of the other options im considering is either doing a:
- bachelor of marketing and media at maq

or a
- bachelor of commerce/media at unsw

but idk if media and marketing are good fields to go into and whether or not the job prospects are good and whether or not it's too overly competitive to get into cause that's what my parents are saying.

If all of this fails I might for a bachelor of business at either maq or uts cause idk if I wanna do a single commerce degree cause its seems kinda dry ngl.

So does anyone have any advice on what I should look into more

after discussing further with my mum I kinda wanna do urban planning or designing so maybe doing a bachelor of architecture and environments at usyd might be good or a bachelor of city planning at unsw but I think the first one might be better

The extent to which AI affects different fields varies. The Bachelor of Marketing and Media naturally focuses on one field. A Bachelor of Business/Commerce is more multifaceted, since business as a field includes many areas (one of which is marketing). You can also typically study more than one area of business under a Bachelor of Business/Commerce by completing a second major, which increases your career options and employment opportunities.

It is also important to ensure that you pursue a degree/field that you have a genuine interest in while still assessing the potential career opportunities that would be available following graduation. To go from contemplating one field/similar degrees such as a Bachelor of Marketing and Media and a Bachelor of Business/Commerce, to considering an entirely different field such as architecture, can indicate that you have not yet formed an idea of the field that you may be genuinely interested in/passionate about.

Speaking to professionals already working in the fields that you are considering can also help (older BoS users may be able to share advice, but LinkedIn is also a good place to connect with professionals in different fields), as they can offer you advice based on their diverse experiences. For example, I work in recruitment/HR and I would say the following in response to your initial questions:
  • This is a competitive field for graduates and an entry-level role can be difficult to secure, especially with no relevant/similar experience gained while at university.
  • My use of AI is occasional and limited to part of one task, although this may vary across different roles/employers.

I hope this helps! 😄
