Because I like it. Because you can escape. Because it transports you to a world far more interesting than your own. Oh, yes and it's highly entertaining.

Well said.

Any you people read to escape life??? How is life not interesting/exciting already. you just have to look around and realise how fascinating stuff really is. Don't get me wrong, except during uni semester when my free time goes dramatically down hill, I read stacks, but I read as a means to enrich life, much the same as meeting new people or listening to music or playing sport, the more you experience the more you appreciate.

Now, to find me a possum.

I'm still very dissapointed when there are no pictures in the middle...unless it's a novel - that utterly destroys everything.

to relax :) i love losing myself in a good story
But when you read, I like to think you're doing the opposite of losing yourself. I have a pet hate against these shells who exist to escape from reality - play games, watch tv/movies to a vulgar extreme. Yuck.

But reading gives flavour to conversations and keeps the words coming morseso than watching the tele-movie version.

Thats what the net is for --> so many interpreations of what the characters could look like, and keeping them in cannon :)

I read because I can.

I was always a book reader but not very often maybe read a book every few months or so, but now since that i have travel so much by train or bus to work / school i read a book for at least 1 hour a day monday-friday.

I read a few good books, and learned alot too and really expanded my vocab :) love it.
