ok likei have been reading the threads with ppl wanting UAI predictions but i want to why the skool matters? do the HSC makers know what skool the exam is from,and ifso does that mean the better skools get better marks for their students and the worse skools get worse marks?

Nah. HSC markers do not know what school the paper comes from and no extra marks are awarded because of going to a "better" school.

For the purposes of a UAI prediction, the rank of the school is important because it allows estimators to know where a student is ranked in the state. e.g. coming 5/70 in Economics in James Ruses is a lot different from a 5th in an average performig non-selective school.

Also the trials marks you are getting at school are slightly indicative of the type of mark you might achieve in the HSC. Typically if you did those papers like CSSA, NEAP, INDEPENDENT etc...
