Hello, I am currently in year 11 and have just been notified that I am apparently in "serious danger" of receiving an n award for hospitality. I have hardly completed any work whatsoever in the class, and haven't worried too much in general about failing this course as I intend to drop it in year 12, leaving me still with the 10 units required for the HSC. Also, I have missed two recent practical assessments due to sickness, and my teacher apparently doesn't intend to allow me to retake them.

However, I have recently been told that if I do happen to fail the subject, I'll need to re-take it next year in order to pass year 11! I certainly hope that this is not the case as the course is utterly mundane, and I only took it due to a lack of any other decent subjects on its line.

I receive good marks in most of my other subjects and currently am not at any risk of failing any other subjects.

So, is this true? If I fail this subject yet pass all my others, will I still need to repeat year 11 ??

i'm not entirely sure, but there is definitely a risk. This is because although you only need 10 units for year 12, you definitely need 12 units for year 11. I think you should try your best not to fail the subject, and I totally understand because i took up english extension to fill up my units! I don't really do my work but I do turn up to assessments and stuff and I'm not actually failing, just persevere, only one term left!

Yeah you will have to repeat if you fail it. You have to pass 12 units of year 11 to move onto year 12.

Rather than wondering whether this is true, you should ask your teacher, and more importantly, find a way to make up for the assessment tasks-getting a 0 is better than getting an N award...
