Hello all
This idea was derived from BBQ Rabbits.

What are your thoughts, questions or opinions about the campus network.
So far, I have found that there is either a great signal, or a crap signal - nothing in between.
Also, what speeds have you hit? I have hit only a max of 90Kbs
I am confused as to why they didn't buy D-Link routers or whatever, that allow you to attatch powerful antennas and such, thus greatly improving range and effeciency.

Also - who uses internal communications on the network (ie Bonjour in Apple iChat, the network feature on Skype???)
Always nice to say hello to a random wireless user during breakfast :p
Oh - and if you are on iTunes, look for 'The Shiny Apple' - constantly adding music to my laptop now + if you are in my units, you can stream the iLectures like podcasts...

Enjoy! and happy bandwidth hogging!

Most IM clients (except MSN) have the usual, connect to server feature (like MSN) but also have a feature that search for other users of the software on your LAN - so at uni, anyone else who is on Skype, can see you and vice versa - it automatically shows you who is online, without you having to search or add people (this is assuming the other person allows this service)

So, if you have Skype, Apple iChat and any other fav applications, fire it up and look for people on the campus network :)

By internal communications, i mean, being able to talk to another person directly comp to comp via wireless, rather than comp - server - comp like MSN works

They are easy to come by - just look for them lying around on tables, or offer to help someone carry their laptop bag for them, even if they do say no, you are doing them a service!
