Hey everyone! I have two questions for you guys.

Is the word count, every single word, like "e.g. it, the, and", do they count? Or can they be excluded from the counting process?

The other question is, does anyone have any tips on how to cut down words?

Every word counts.

Thorough editing is a really good way to cut down. Rewriting a scene or section can cut it down quickly.

Just to add to the excellent suggestion above -

When considering significant changes to a scene (sometimes cutting down reduces what was otherwise a fine section to a pile of bones - sometimes replacing is actually better), think about the work as a whole FIRST. Remember that big changes *here* might also logically force changes *there* as well.
