Ok i have to creat page #'s for a business report, so how do you enter page numbers that dont start from (actual) page 1 and for (actual page 2&3) have it in roman numerals (i, ii) then from that point on have the page numbers start from 1 onwards
What im a bit confused. to make this process easier, because word varies from version to version im using Microsoft Office Word 2003 (11.6502.6408) SP1.sunny said:On the pages you want to be different: Insert, Page Numbers, click "Format".
I dont think you guys get what im asking. let me explain, this is what a biz report should look likeAntiHyper said:Go to Insert\Page Numbers>Format
From there you can select roman numerals from "Number Format:" selection
At the bottom of that window where it says "Page numbering"
Select "Start At:" and where you want the real numbering start from.
simple.. well not really..
APPENDED: If you want to be more elegant, just play around with the settings from the "Page Numbers" window
This is in the order it needs to be inSummers & Smith said:Page

Do i need to sector the different parts of or something cause if I click "Continue from previous section it changes everything to the new style!AntiHyper said:Agreed. I think what I said would've done the job.
Just do the procedure at "Executive Summary" where u use roman numerals
and again at "Introduction" where u use numbers.
Insert a Next Page break (Insert -> Break, Next Page) between sections of no page numbers, roman numerals, and decimal numbers.Korn said:Do i need to sector the different parts of or something cause if I click "Continue from previous section it changes everything to the new style!
If I click Start at it starts at page one and changing the value only means that page 1 is now page 4, and following pages are consequetive
That creates a physical blank page, whereas i need this document to flow continously, would i be better using continous section break???sunny said:Insert a Next Page break (Insert -> Break, Next Page) between sections of no page numbers, roman numerals, and decimal numbers.
The breaks are meant to be inserted as you type (ie, the breaks should be at the bottom of your text at the end of each section). Hit Shift+Control+8 to see where the breaks are inserted, and delete any white space that causes too much space.Korn said:That creates a physical blank page, whereas i need this document to flow continously, would i be better using continous section break???
Thanks im using continous it seems to be working well only 2 problems left and i tink solving the deletion of title page number will fix both, so how do i do itsunny said:The breaks are meant to be inserted as you type (ie, the breaks should be at the bottom of your text at the end of each section). My previous example:
Any kind of break works, as long as its a Section break.Korn said:Thanks im using continous it seems to be working well
