Employers across the globe are legally responsible for maintaining a healthy and safe workplace for employees. This will protect the workforce from accidents caused due to job hazards. It is not the sole responsibility of the employers to be conscious about health and safety; employees also have the responsibility for maintaining a healthy and safe workplace.
A safety alert employee is an asset for the company because he/she is not only self conscious but also vigilant about the safety needs of the colleagues. An employee who wants to be better equipped in managing health and safety of the workplace should attend all the training sessions offered by the company. This will enable them to understand the hidden job hazards and find solutions for protecting the workplace from grave accidents. workplace safety should not be considered as a trivial topic, as it will end up in serious workplace safety issues. Both employers and the employees should be on their toes when it comes to workplace safety.
It is important to appoint a safety officer in every office to see to it that health and safety of employees are properly managed. A safety officer also reports the safety issues in the workplace to the concerned heads, so that necessary precautions are taken for avoiding accidents. Employees can approach the safety officer to convey his/her safety problems and seek appropriate remedial measures. For the smooth running of any company, a healthy and safe workplace is very essential.
