Geo is smack bang right in the middle. it is the AVERAGE scaled subject on the scaling list.

if geo is an average scaling......wot would that mean? would it mean that the mark doesnt move?

Not really, don't let the wording deceive you, "average" doesn't mean your mark will not move. As Asquithian said earlier, you really need a geo mark of 85+ if you want a UAI above 90.

:uhhuh:

i would even go to the extent of saying a low 90 mark...

i did legal studies in yr 12 and it was scaled lower then GEO in that particular year.....

i got a low 90 (band 6) for the hsc but it was scaled to a 83 i think......

just an idea .....

thats absolute garbage!!

it depends completely on your other subjects and how you perform in them

you could get a mark of 75 for geo and do std english, ees, sac and cafs (not great subjects) and get a uai of 95...

if u do well enough in your other subjects, your geog wont pull you down too much

hmm..... well thats just reverse psychology then is it not?
if youare to 'depend' on other subjects just because you are doing GEO, then why bother?...i feel your undermining the contribution GEO can make to your UAI.

Well I think the main point to stress here, is that don't worry about what the scaling is like for geography. People get unnecessarily concerned about scaling for subjects, just because a subject is scaled poorly doesn't mean you will get screwed over.
If you perform well, regardless of the scaling, you will still be fine.

^^^^ but the uai is a ranking, so like if someone does "high scaled" subs like 4 u maths, chem, physics ect and gets 98 in everything they will get 100, WHEREAS u could do heaps well in like biz studies, drama, art, geo and food tech but not get 100 as oppl have done just as good in high scaling subs
