Since I'm transferring to Commerce lib and have found a small loop-hole-type-thing-which-isnt-really-a-loophole allowing me to do psych as a major, I may need to do government this semester. I didn't do it last sem.
Unfortunately ecop has to go :( I'll miss it.
So are the subjects offered all linked or can I just pick up a unit.

You should wait until you actually transfer before you change any of your courses.

I don't understand. Why do you have to do Government? What does that have to do with you doing Psych Major? Can't you keep ECOP?

Ok, i wish to advanced (double) major in mktg, major in psych, major in another random subject.
Now, I need to use 24 arts c.p.
So I can fit all that in 4 years, my best bet is to major in management, as that allows me to use both my work1001 units and 2nd year govt units for the major. So, effectively, I could be both working down my arts units and obtaining a management major at the same time.

and absolution, if I don't transfer, this govt unit isn't a big deal. Using my current degree i had 1 free unit to fill, and govt can do that for me. If i stay with my degree, then i can still minor in political economy as planned. but if i get a shit average this sem, then i may just go back to ecop

Well in direct answer to your question, no, you don't have to have done 1st semester Government. It really depends on the UoS you take, but even then it doesn't really have much of an impact.

If you do Introduction to Australian Politics, that runs both semesters and no knowledge is required beforehand.

World Politics doesn't either and frankly, Geopolitics wouldn't have made blind Freddy's difference to understanding it.

Power in Society doesn't run second semester.

From what (precious little) I know about you Stas, International Business Business and Politics (GOVT 1406) might be up your alley.... have a look :)

screw australian politics. its full of students who want to run for government. which isnt me.
oh and i want to do world politics :) it sounds uber cool. and easy.
I emailed the lecturer and she said that it's an introductory unit to international relations, so no prior knowledge is needed :D
International business politics seems kinda boring.

It sounds good but is not.

Why do you think you need to switch to Govt for this loopwhole.
My understanding is that if you do the govt units (only a limited number) under the management major, than you do not need to do any first year government subjects.
because otherwise I have to take 24 arts credit points. Therefore, I don't have enough credit points left (60 is the max outside business fac) to do a psychology major. If I take 24 govt units, I can count them both towards a major that I'm doing a lot of units out of anyway AND write off my arts requirement.

I'm 90% sure you cannot do that.
also, why do you need to do World Pol? You can take senior govt units without the prereq if you are doing a Management major,
you can :) i've spoken to 2 people. and received an email from the student centre as well.
As for senior govt units: yes, i know that but I wish to use all 24c.p. in govt. And management major only has 2 senior govt units as part of it.
oh and theres a question for you in the other text list thread :)

I thought you said that that looked boring?

Geopolitics was awesome course content - but the lecturer was soooooo boring, the readings and the textbook didn't link with the lectures or each other. The assessments didn't link in with anything. It was such as disjointed course, it wasn't funny.
