if any1 cud pleaseee tell me which option is better (in the way of easiness and funness) out of Medical Physics and Astrophysics?? coz our teacher's saying he want astro physics but pretty much evry1 in the class wants medical physics jus want 2 make sure we isnt makin a mistake in pickin medical

Astrophysics, Medical Physics is really boring IMO (I've read the topic). You will find that Astrophysics ties very well with 9.2 Space and 8.5 The Cosmic Engine (Preliminary).

How could you do both?

I read Medical Physics in my spare time.
I did Astrophysics in class, and
I did From Quanta to Quarks for my Physics Assessment task.

For the HSC and trial, I did Astrophysics because that is my strength.

Yes, it is.

But Medical was an interest, so I didn't "study" it if that's what you think. I simply read it to further myself. As for Quanta/Quarks, that was an assessment whereby all you had to do was complete column 2 and 3 dot points for one of the focus areas - I reasoned that Q2Q was going to be easier (and it was) in comparison to the focus area in Astrophysics, with 'more' 3rd column dot points to do, compare to Q2Q. Call me lazy, but I was under pressure what with a heap of assessments going on during that period.

Our Physics teacher left the school and we had a replacement.

Astrophysics was selected and it was still enjoyable.

It was a genuine question, on my behalf. I wasn't going to assume that you had repeated, in fear of insulting your intelligence.

In my opinion medical physics is easiest to predict exam questions.

Not to mention you can learn the entire topic just from memorisation.

I got 23/25 for my Medical Physics CSSA trial and I didn't have one clue what an MRI was besides what it stands for.

I just memorisied sample answers. But yes it is boring if you don't like reading a lot. Otherwise, Medical is the way to go.

As Huy said, Astro will tie in very well with the space topic you will have to do...
Its definitely interesting... Not much math there either.
Just a couple of formulas, mainly in determining the distances to stars from earth...

Depends really, if you enjoyed space as I did... you will like astro

both are content driven, ie memory work.
you will also find that they can be self-taught.
i cant say which one is better, i only did astro, but if you liked space and have a decent memory, go for astro.

I havent looked at any other options but i recn AOS is a peice of piss, everything is really easy, except for amps. its like...describe a transducer, a relay....heaps easy also interesting, take a look at that one, its in jac to. good luk

We had the option.

One or two selected the Age of Silicon.
Most did Astrophysics, only a handful did Medical Physics.

We weren't really given the option, but if you wanted to do something other than Astrophysics, then it was up to you to read and teach yourself, with teacher support/advice of course. The same applies for chemistry, most did Industrial Chemistry for their Option, but I know one person did Shipwrecks/Salvage, he had to do his own experiments and 'teaching' - but the teacher was there.

No.

It's my school. We have 1200+ students Years 7-12.
www.pbcf.nsw.edu.au

Physics:
* 96% did Astrophysics
* 3% did Medical Physics
* 1% did From Quanta/Quarks and/or Age of Silicon.

Chemistry:
* 99% did Industrial Chemistry
* 1% did Shipwrecks and Salvage.

We were given the option to study on your own, complete your own dot points, learn for yourself/teach yourself, and do perform you own experiments, with differing assessment tasks. Most chose to stick to Industrial Chem and Astrophysics because the teachers were teaching it to a large number of students, who do Physics and Chemistry (about 30-50 in each subject).

Most people liked 9.2 Space, because they had done 8.5 The Cosmic Engine in Year 11 Preliminary.

I enjoyed 8.7? Astrophysics but I also liked Quanta to Quarks, because it was intertwined with Chemistry (a few ideas). Overall, I would've selected Astrophysics in the end, if I were to select any Options again. If you had enjoyed The Cosmic Engine to begin with, you would have loved Space and Astrophysics.
