I'm about to start year 11 and am interested in purchasing preliminary study guides. I've went to my book store and am considering going to Dymocks in the city as they have a greater variety. The only issue is, there is so much to choose from, which are the best books. I've take a look at the "Recommended Texbooks/Study Guides?" thread, though it only confused me to as what books to get. The subjects which I'm going to be doing are:

English Advanced
Mathematics Extension 1
Chemistry
Physics
Business Studies
Information Technology

Could anyone please recommend any books for each of these subjects. Note that I'm not after text books but rather study guides. But the study guides must be sufficient enough for me to be able to study from during exams.

Don't go crazy and buy books for every subject. It's not needed in year 11.

Get textbooks for math, chem & physics. Your school should provide you with the text book for Business Studies, so you don't need to buy another.

For math - get Cambridge. :)

Yeah I bought Cambridge 3U Mathematics Bill Pender online for $25.00 off chousta in the boredofstudies buy/sell section whom did his HSC this year. I also bought a few books from this really nice seller (psychotic-maggot) who sold me Spotlight Biology Book for $33.40 (including shipping/postage costs) and also put in a couple of extra books for the subjects I am doing next year (Excel Chemistry, Excel Physics, and a accelerated maths learning book for 2U/3U) for free!. :D :D :D

Physics: The Core is recommended (bought online as well from chousta lol). Try the buy/sell section if you willing to buy books. I was thinking of going to the library to just borrow books but I've got two younger sisters who will need my notes and the textbooks, which will give them a booster in future years. And I bought the books for half price, even less when psychotic gave me those 3 free extra books. So yeah, it's a saving.

He is a really good seller and I think he has a few more books in which he is willing to sell. Though psychotic-maggot gave away her books so she's not selling.

With that 99+ UAI aim, good luck mate. (seriously).

But for year 11, don't get Dot Point, not needed, for year 12, get all the books you can, you want a variety of sources and practice books.

Year 11 is just geting into it, start stuyding 30 minutes-1 hr a day and ull be fine.

Lol it was the same as yours before (95+) and now it is =]. But still, fellow 09'ers have a long way to go compared to the 08'ers whom have started their internals :).

year 11s dont really require textbooks other than those provided by the school
other than in maths since the course often overlaps into both years

IMO, you also don't need to get those generic Excel books for your English texts if you've analysed your text sufficiently.
