Hey BOS, I have too choose my subjects for next year and am wanting to do an engineering degreee at UTS or UNSW. I am not sure what specific type of engineering but anything related to building and computers interests me. so i this is what i am currently thinking.

- English Advanced
- Math
- Math Ext 1
- Physics
- Business Studies
- IPT

PS, I don't want a lot of subjects to over stress about i.e. chem or 4 unit.

Good. If you can do well with these subjects and get into the course you desired then you are completely set. Computer science and engineering only asks for 2U or 3U maths as assumed knowledge, depending on which uni you wish to attend.

I herad that UNSW has 'assumed knowledge' and not prerequisites so i could basically do gen maths and get 91+ atar and get UNSW but will struggle, is that true or are there prerequisites?

I've checked myself for all the IT based courses and UNSW and USYD generally asks for 3U assumed knowledge, AFAIK, there are no prerequisites. You can check yourself by Googling. But yes, doing general maths will probably make you struggle unless you think you can do calculus or learn 3U as they actually teach it in the course but at a very quick pace.
