ey does any1 have interpretations of easter 1916, or any other poems for that matter. Here's one i hav on easter 1916, i just wanna be prepared for one of those q's where it says 2 ppl are havin a convo and value to poems different

William Shaney sees Easter 1916 as an example of Yeats’ antithesis where initially he satirizes and mocks his fellow Irish men/women before declaring them heroes that were sacrificed.

In Easter 1916 Yeats is questioning whether the transendance of the rebels into a stone that diverts history has too high a cost to pay becasue their hearts have been lost(ie their humanity) this questioning of transendance continues throughout Yeats career and is evident in most of his poems. By the Byzantium poems Yeats has resolved this issue and says that humanities 'mere complexities' are holding us back. that he wishes to strip away his humanity adn become something transendant. His questioning of ideas of transendance can be seen as early as When you are old when Yeats asks what happens to Love after the love has dissapeared, does it hide its face among the stars? (a powerful celtic mythological symbol) and does it take on a persona of its own.
