How would you answer this question ? Just curious, i love when people think outside the box

Please give an example of a recent situation when you didn't know who you needed to speak to within an organisation to get something done. What did you do?.

Didn't have a required deposit from said organisation.
So, I bypassed the organisation and went to their customer saying that we don't have a booking yet and nothing will be going ahead.
Sure it pissed off the organisation a tad, but hell it got me my damn deposit :).

needed to ask a question relating to a certain problem my mum was having. (wow thats specific lol) mum didnt want to call up coz she didnt know what to say. so i just rang, stated the problem and asked who to speak to, some receptionist lady put me on hold for a bit and then put me through to the correct person. problem solved.

State your problem and ask who you should talk too? What else would you do?

i dont think interviewers are asking that question to hear the simple answer of "state prob and someone will tell you where to go"......probably along mr brightsides lines
