Everyone will be up to something different, i'll explain my school's progress:
I'm still using the cambridge 3u textbook for yr 11 and just started chapter 10 (the geometry of the derivative, aka stuff like sketching curves using calculus and stat points, points of inflexion etc.) I haven't got the textbook with me now but i'll try and recall the topics we've done so you get a better understanding of where my school is at: functions, trig, sequences and series, differentiation, parametrics, quadratics/parabola. We still have to do integration, log/exponential functions and further trig functions, which is like chapters 11-14. I get a feeling that our school is around average, maybe a little slow.

tomorrow we'll start year 12 course... just finished our exams

we've done circle geometry, trig, functions and graphing them, inequalities with absolute values....

i think we have learnt some yr12 stuff extra because we still haven't started calculus nor the log stuff. or the other stuff with the "!!" (probability i think) :S lol

integration, inverse functions + trig, exponentials, SHM, projectile motion, related rates, growth and decay, binomial theorem, methods of approximation

can't remember any more off the top of my head

don't remember if circle geo is prelim or HSC, but it's just yr 10 circle geo with a few more theorems

Just a note to you new HSC'ers: both preliminary and HSC are tested in the HSC exams. You cannot simply evade circle geometry since it is year 11 work - it is in EVERY 3u and 4u exam you care to name. :)

As such, you'll probably also find that some schools cover year 12 topics in year 11 and year 11 topics in year 12.

That is not hard to overcome in maths, since all the work you do is cumulative and builds on what you have learnt. However, if you're really behind in maths, it's gonna take ALOT of hard work to catch up.
Anyway, i have done circle geometry by myself in my own time, the topic is not that hard but you can get stuck on those complex looking diagrams. By the way, if it's not in the prelim 3u cam course, then it's probably in the 3u hsc one.

We're one of those schools that cover HSC topics in yr 11 etc. We use the Maths in Focus textbooks and our current topic is Exponential and Logarithmic functions. Last one before that was Integration and before that was the Geometrical Applications of the Derivative stuff. We haven't even MENTIONED circle geometry! ><

my teacher taught us circle geo in year 11 before calculus, logs or even functions and relations

We're up to the geometry of the derivative aka sketching curves using calculus + 2nd derivative/point of inflexion etc.

lol, we've learnt pascal's triangle eg expanding (x+5)^3

pretty sure that's yr 12 stuff :D
(not that it's hard)
