Yr11 just wondering about certain Uni courses! (1 Viewer)

Hey guys,

I'm in yr11 and thinking of doing a Maths/Arts degree at uni (just because I like those two). I've seen many people on this forum and that I know of going to do Science (adv math) with Commerce (actuary) mostly at UNSW.

I was wondering how different actuary is to the maths degree? What about the maths that they use? I'm not very keen on stats haha, preferring mostly pure... I know that actuary is a very long path compared to a maths degree... Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

So what's your question exactly...?

Actuarial is very different to maths. Actuarial is a very specific bit of maths, it's quantitative risk applied to insurance and the like. A maths degree is more general - like... pure or applied.
