Alright i'll explain each of my steps:

The fundamental trigonometric identity is sin^2 (x) + cos^2 (x) = 1

Therefore, 1 - sin^2 (x) = cos^2 (x) by subtracting sin^2 (x) from both sides.

In your example, you have 90 - x instead of x, so we can call that X for simplicity.

1 - sin^2 (X) = cos^2 (X) as discussed above.

Now we replace X with 90 - x

cos^2 (90 - x) = [cos (90 - x)]^2

You should know now that cos (90 - x) = sin x (complementary)

So we're left with (sinx)^2 = sin^2 (x)
