Maybe a stupid question, but I am writing an accounting paper and I'm not sure which to write. Does it even matter?

As in I am writing about the us currency. And I dont know which is the right way to write it.

Very sure it's "$US100". Textbooks, newspapers all seem to use it that way

Yeah, the newspaper articles put it like that, but the rio tinto financial statements put it the other way around. Confusing much. I want the dollar sign in there
