Hey guys i was wondering how effective are billboards and newspaper advertising as marketing tools for a cost - effective advertising. And how effective is it to ensure that it reaches its target audience?
Thanks Alot ! =]
Well, by "how effective" you're asking for an evaluation, or a judgement based on criteria. This is my list of criteria and how I would make a judgement:
- Target market characteristics
- Newspapers would need to be used for the literate, that is people who could read and wan't to read. For example, aged 24-60?
- Accessibility
- Billboards on freeways may be suitable to target the traditional working class person, who drives to work every day (the billboard is accessible)
- Billboards near Luna park for example may be suitable to target a younger age, again it is about accessibility
- Cost
- Newspapers provide a free form of advertising, much favourable over the billboard which can be quite expensive
- Frequency
- In reality, you cannot get a newspaper article every day, even though advertisements are possible but these are not cost-effective
- Billboards are likely to stay for a while, and are in the consumers face every day (i.e. driving to work)
I'm sorry, I havn't really structured my answer well. But these are some points to start with. Make sure in your answer, you give some indication that you are making a
Personal judgement (as it is an evaluate question?). Not just simply throwing information.
Good Luck.
