if one line is vertical
then u can find the angle between the other line and a horizontal line, then subtract this answer from 90 degrees

Yeah, but what if the 'other line' forms an obtuse angle with any horizontal line?

the angle = arctan|(1/m)|

where m is the gradient of the non vertical line

Nice method. Would you need to explain how it works in an exam situation, or could you just write it down, plug the numbers in the equation and still be full marks?
