I assume you mean "Fee-paying students" which was there before DFEE was axed?

Edit: Okay I didn't actually answer the question... This is always confusing for people: DFEE was a method of entry and has been axed. Now you generally enter university in a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) which has HECS-HELP.

Some tertiary institutions still have non-CSP places, which are just called fee-paying places. You can still get FEE-HELP for them. However these places generally don't exist side by side with CSP places at universities, like they did before this year.

So to answer the question which is now commonly asked, ("Can I pay full fees upfront to 'lower' the UAI cutoff for a course?") the answer is no in most cases.
