sin (x + PI/3) = cos (x – PI/3). Solve for x.

Hi

Could someone please help me solve the above question? For some reason I can't seem to get x.

I end up with:

sin x + root(3) cos x = cos x + root(3) sin x :shouting:

You were almost there then.

You now have (root(3) - 1) sin x = (root(3)-1) cos x

so that LHS/RHS = tan x = 1 so that x = pi/4 or 5pi/4 (for x from 0 to 2pi)
