No more 100's with ATAR; A conspiracy?

UAC has noted the reason for the change to the maximum rank as 99.95 is because:

One of the common mistakes people make is to think a score of 100 means
a “perfect score”: this is not the case. Students who received a UAI of 100
were those with the highest rank, not those with a perfect score. In 30 years,
no NSW student has ever received an aggregate of 500 (which is indeed a
“perfect score”).

Doesn't that mean we should get rid of ranks all togther, just because some people make the common mistake of taking 100 as a perfect score instead of a rank. :jedi:
If they were trying to standardise between the states, why not also bring their maximum ranks to 100. Wouldn't that make more sense? :burn:

Is their true motif behind this, something else?

I guess the idea is that say for example you apply for a university/job outside NSW. It is more than likely that these people have no idea of the scaling system in NSW and think that a UAI of 100 is a "perfect score".

But anyway. Its not that big of a deal.

The CIA was behind all this.

Remember that the UAI was a rank not a score.

Yeah it totally makes more sense to make every other state change to match NSW rather than NSW changing to do what everyone else does.

Idiot

Imagine if someone actually did nail the elusive 500.00 "perfect" aggregate in the near future!!! That person would be so pissed off with 99.95...

Let's all go to Talent 100 and complain about their name being misleading.

This change had nothing to do with politics. The UAI/ATAR comes from the UAC, which is independant of the government/Board of Studies

I still blame kevin rudd since he's the one who said he wants national ranking, and this is the first step towards national ranking!

anyone else even notice that the BoS has got a really screwed up ranking system? The smartest people in the state get a UAI rank of 100, while slightly dumber people get ranks of 98 and 99. anyone else see the stupidity in this "rank" system???

surely the logical thing would be to have the smartest kids ranked 1st? Whenever I was the smartest in a class of 25, I came 1st, not 25th. Im sure you can all relate.

so if the UAI (and presumably ATAR) is a "rank", should the smartest kids not get a mark of 1.00? and dumbest kids get marks of 98.55 and such?

Nah lol, 100.00 sounds better, well 99.95 now, but 99.95 makes you sound smarter and tells people that your are smarter then 99.95% of the state, you cant really do that the other way around.. plus some people who dont know what UAI/ATAR means, they mistake it as percentage and lets say 98.95 = 98.95% which makes you sound even more smarter xDDDD, cant really do that with 1.00 o.0 lol
