I definitely approve of Geometry. Algebra, well, I got a raw mark of 66, and I completely suck at it, so I'm happy with 73.

80 for a HD is a bit of a joke...... as an 80 would indicate you have a few gaps in your knowledge.

You are completely discounting the fact that by upping the requirement for a HD you are essentially just causing grade inflation.

Edit: In many non maths/science units, grades over 85 are generally unheard of.

anyways, what is the definition of HD?

"Work of outstanding quality on the learning outcomes of the subject, which may be demonstrated in areas such as criticism, logical argument, interpreptation of materials or use of methodology. This grade may also be given to recognise particular originality or creativity"

maybe coz in arts subjects most students are just regurgitating shit rather than coming up with something outside the box and beyond what is required of the subject.

For USYD, marks come out gradually from 29 June onwards via Student Admin. Just check every day from 4pm onwards as there is a lock down time from 9am-4pm each day. They should come out by next week as Semester 2 starts soon for most unis. I think if I remember correctly USYD results are posted on the 16th July.

For UNSW results come out on July 10 @ 7pm via zMail.

There, hope that clarifies things for people from both USYD and UNSW.

Well if the requirement for a HD was reduced from 85 to 80 then obviously the lecturers would feel obliged to mark more harshly in order to retain the integrity of the curve & vice versa.

While some memorization is required for arts subjects, essay questions dont simply require students to 'regurgitate shit', but rather to consider and synthesize ideas in answering the question and arriving at your own thesis. Most lecturers i've had have made it clear the students who merely 'regurgitated shit' would get a grade no higher than a Cr+.

That sounds just like Law Essays; except if you "regurgitate shit" you most likely fail.
